A love affair with prints and patterns…
I have been drawn to prints and patterns my entire life. Since I was a toddler, I have been pointing out images - a rocking horse in the clouds and faces in marble, to locating the print repeats in wallpaper and bedding.
Perhaps, it’s from growing up in the ‘70’s with it’s littering of crazy patterns, coupled with interesting fabric choices. My fascination with the flocked fleur de lys wallpaper in my parent’s bedroom certainly kept my interest as I (and my brother) ran little fingers over it as we used the California king bed as a trampoline.
What I know is that I love the creation of patterns using all sorts of different tools and methods and the process of finding applications for them.
Nature’s Patterns Reimagined
-
Random Green Plant
Inspiration can start with a small random photograph of a little wild plant.
-
A Pattern Created
I took the previous photo and with the use of Photoshop and filters reconstructed that image into a print pattern of nature.
-
Fun Funky Plant
A cute interesting plant is always great inspiration.
-
Stylized Tile Print
A stylized tile print that could easily be a great backsplash foundation or focal point.
-
Soft, Fluid Pattern
This soft, fluid pattern might just lend itself to a lovely summer dress, don’t you think? And yet still is unique from the colorful clouds it started from.
-
Colorful Clouds
The soft clouds with psychedelic colors created an interesting starting place.
-
Triangle Pattern
A pattern of triangles that are both cool and warm, but nothing like the leaves they began from.
-
A Variety of Fall Leaves
An assortment of fall leaf colors lend themselves to something more.
